It's Happening Already

Chris Matthews says that Obama lost New Hampshire because they're racists up there in the Granite State.

I expected this, but not quite so soon.

If Obama isn't the next president, it will be because of America's inherent racism. And if Hillary! isn't, it will be because of America's inherent sexism. It won't, it goes without saying, be because of any inherent deficiencies in them as candidates that are independent of their melanin content or genital configuration.

And it's guaranteed to be one or the other, because only one of them (if either) can win. And of course, if neither of them do, and another Rethuglican steals the election, it will be because we're both racist and sexist. Because, you know, it's always America's fault.

There's no basis for this. Rasmussen polls:

Election 2008: New Hampshire Democratic Primary Final New Hampshire Poll: Obama 37% Clinton 30%

Look, Obama's poll numbers are virtually identical to those he received. There is NO Bradley effect. What happened was a realignement in the remaining 63% of voters.

I don't understand why the pundits can't make this simple observation.

Of course there's no basis for it. But that doesn't stop so-called liberals of accusing people of racism and sexism. It's second nature, and substitutes for thought or argument, which most find too difficult.

I agree that the MSM in particular are full of idiots.

If the Witches Moment of Femininity was not shrieked out at every possible opportunity NH could have stayed true to the polls.

Also blame the Right Wing machine for this as well, since the Witches so-called breakdown was their biggest news for a couple of days, and apparently continues in the same mode.

There is more bad news in the voter relaignment, in my opinion. I think the Richardson and Dodd voters plus possibly the Edwards voters will run with Clinton.

Obama should just run a decent clean campaign and appeal to America's better instincts. If it's McCain vs. Clinton, Hillary will lose. Personally I would vote for McCain over Hillary; what I'm seeing about the Clintons revolts me.

I'm really, really getting tired of the "If you don't support fill in the blank then you must be racist/sexist/homoist/militarist/peacenikist/ atheist/deist/carnivorist/veganist/whateverist - it couldn't be because the reasoning behind my lack of support for YOUR cause is sufficient to ME, instead I've got to be slapped with some sort of label so I can be easily discounted and ignored.

If I don't like Obama, I must be a racist. It couldn't be because I haven't heard any plans from him I like - it couldn't be because I don't like his attitudes about governmental involvement in American life - no, I've got to be upset and reject him because he's got more melanin in his skin than I do?

Give me a damn break. Just because some can't rub two neurons together without coming up with 'ist' labels to slap on everything and everyone around them doesn't mean I think the same way. And slapping me with that label doesn't make me go "Ooh, I don't wanna be called a name, so I'll vote for Obama!" - it makes me go "Good gravy, man - you REALLY MUST want me to vote for someone other than Obama! Because calling me names isn't going to get my support!"
