The Front Lines

No better place to hang out tonight for the Iowa Caucus (Cauci?) than Iowahawk's place.

I'd advise a restroom break prior to stopping by Iowahawk's place, based on this latest update:

"7:42 PM: As if things couldn't get any worse, now the Democrats are coming upstairs to use the hall toilet because of the problem in the basement. The environmentalist only use one square of paper, and the others steal entire rolls. None of them wash their hands."

I could have said this: "Why bother washing their hands when they could wipe it on a Rethug." But I didn't.

That trick courtesy of Mike Huckabee, the eventual 2008 GOP nominee. Way to go Mike.

I think the evangelicals have had it with their role as lowly serfs.

Today is a day to celebrate the greatness of America. A half-black man, maligned as Muslim, middle name Hussein, scores a stunning victory in the heart of white America.

If that doesn't send a powerful message to the world, what does? God Bless America.

And Huckabee's victory is equally great news. The people, lowly evangelicals in this case, standing up the establishment.

Well, 37% to 30% to 30% hardly qualifies as a stunning victory - but I am glad that he got it. Of the three frontrunners in the Democratic nom, he would be my favorite. This victory may mean quite a bit for the Democratic party.

I am pretty surprised by Huckabee's performance. It will be interesting to see if he can convert this into additional wins elsewhere. If he can't, I think the Republican nom will not be decided until the very last vote.

It will be interesting to watch, anyway.

Some of the comentators on FOX tonight were speculating on the possibility of a brokered convention. Wouldn't that be a marvelous piece of history to see! The original purpose of these conventions was to debate issues and choose a candidate to support the party's issues, not be the mere coronation ceremonies they have become in recent years. I wouldn't mind a brokered convention (or two) one bit.
