Solution of High-Priced Milk

Milk prices hit $3.84/gallon in September which was about a buck more than gasoline. My solution: put ice in milk glasses, then add 15% ethanol to the milk to be required by law. The solution's also known as (White) Russian.

--- Update 12/21, 9:00 PM CST ---

Ethanol should be mandated for 15% of the rocket fuel used in US rockets. That might get ADM to stump for more launches.

Your tax dollars at work. Food prices are increasing faster than in years, but hey, you'll be able to buy plenty of subsidized ethanol!

In New England we have the Northeast Dairy Compact keeping milk prices artificially high. Strange, though... the actually dairy farmers still get paid so little they're lucky to stay in business and scrape out a living. On the other side, retailers don't make much selling milk; they just do it because it's expected of them. It all goes to the middle of the chain.

It wouldn't seem so bad for milk to be $3.99 if it weren't for knowing the farmers get squat, and for having to buy 3 gallons a week. Which will only go up when the baby gets old enough to guzzle milk too.

At least we can get it for $3.27 at BJ's, and $3.29 or $3.39 at Wal-Mart. Not as convenient, but hey, when we're there anyway it helps.

For those reading who have not tasted this drink called "White Russian"; Beware!

I had two and a half of them one evening in the early 70s. Did not taste alcoholic. However, I would not have noticed organ donor surgery afterwards. Or Armageddon, for that matter.

Your Mileage May Vary, just be careful out there. Especially if you wish to remember the night before on the morning afterwards.....

This whole biofuel thing is such a weird thing... it seems that politicians never listen to the engineers or scientists.

First nothing is done for a very long time despite calls from the experts, and then when they finally think that maybe somethins is worth doing, they take some small thing and obsessively drive it to absurdity.

It seems that nothing balanced and sensible is ever going to push through.

Over here the ethanol is imported from Brazil where it is not produced in very human or environment friendly ways. And palm oil for biodiesel from Asia, where plantations replace rain forests.

Oh well, merry christmas.

That's because most politicians are economic illiterates and innumerate morons.

Actually, Carmack at Armadillo was musing at one point in their blog about using E85 instead of ethanol because it was more easily available and cheaper - he was leaning against because of the extra environmental issues around gasoline, as opposed to ethanol, spills.
