Maybe this one should be named "Star Trek - Girlymen"?

Personally, I don't care what they do to ST. It's been beat to death, it's become a sort of PC icon. And then there's Wesley Crusher. (shivver)

Just don't remake the original original ST, "Forbidden Planet".

Wait 'till you see it on screen to judge. Shatner didn't look particularly butch in a lot of early Star Trek publicity photos.

I'd agree that the Bones choice is a bit odd, considering the guy's previous roles (none of which I've seen), but it isn't like they're going with stunt casting here. No comics and no major celebrities.

It is too damn early to condemn the flick, especially when the actors are all largely unknowns. The reboot is sorely needed. Watching the remastered Trek has really convinced me that the first show is still the best of the bunch.

It isn't like, after the last two Trek flicks, that this movie has a lot to live up to. There were ten Trek movies and barely half were any good.

I will say, however, it is good to see the World Wide Web being used for its original purpose, whining about Star Trek.

Funniest thing I've read all day. Thanks.

If you want a story about dubious movie casting, turn to this:

The dude better be one hell of an illusionist if he wants to pass himself off as the elegant, David Niven-esque Mandrake.

I'd be more worried about the script. Check out the Superman movie J.J. Abrams wrote a few years back:

http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/Superman(JJAbrams).pdf

Not only is the script badly written, it messes up the most basic parts of the Superman mythos. Superman's home planet isn't destroyed??? Lex Luthor is a Kryptonian???

It makes you wonder what he'll do with Spock and Kirk.

I see that they've cast Zoe Saldana as Uhura.

Mmmm,Zoe Saldana.....

Ah, Wikipedia entry for the new Trek flick:

Holy hallucinogenic tribbles, Batman! They got Zachary Quinto as Spock! The guy who plays serial killer Sylar in Heroes! This I gotta see.

I am really scared about that new movie and how they're going to destroy the franchise once and for all.
