Dream Postponed

As a Boeing stockholder, this doesn't make me very happy.

Boeing said the postponement will not materially affect its earnings or guidance for next year.

That should ease your mind.

That should ease your mind.

It doesn't. My concern wasn't about earnings. My concern was about the hit that the stock price will take because of people who don't know any better.

Rand,

You have my condolences. I remember Boeing stock being around $38 a few years ago, and didn't have any cash to buy shares. *sigh* Boeing Commercial Aircraft is a solid company that is trying to do unprecedented stuff.

It sounds like the supplier network is not executing properly yet, and that too much (re)work is happening at Everett.

If anyone can make it work, it will be Boeing. Be of good cheer... the 737 replacement program will benefit from the teething pains of the 787.

If people are uninformed and run down the price of Boeing stock, this is a particularly good opportunity for the better-informed to buy more stock at a good price.

The delay comes with a price because everything is carried with financing charges, and the later the plane gets to the airlines, the later Boeing gets paid. But the 787 Dreamliner will get built, it is a great airplane building on Boeing skills in composite materials.

Paul's right Rand. If the stock suffers a slide, that's the opportunity to buy more at a cut-rate price. Boeing is a strong company run on good economic fundamentals. Actually, you try hoping for a downturn to acquire more shares.

It depends on when you needed to sell...

Buy and hold. Buy and hold.
