More McCarthyism From The Left
With the release of Clarence Thomas' memoirs, a lot of history is being relived. I had forgotten what a vile heap of offal Howard Metzenbaum was in the confirmation hearings, but Ed Morrissey remembers.

One of the better moments in the entire fiasco was when Metzenbaum made an arrogant remark about how the committee would judge Clarence Thomas's behavior, and Thomas shot back something along the lines of, "God will judge me, not you, Senator Metzenbaum."
Thomas has big brass ones. So does Doggett, Thomas Sowell and other prominent black conservatives. This is no surprise, since these men all had to overcome chronic bad treatment by individuals and institutions when they were growing up. They didn't become successful by letting themselves get pushed around by jerks. They are precisely the kind of strong, independent minded individuals who are too rare in modern government. Of course the Left can't tolerate them.

Rand,
"vile heap of offal" is, by far, the best descriptor of the average leftie I've yet read. Yet, somehow doesn't seem strong for good ol' Howard.
Tnx
