A Point In His Favor

At least in my eyes. Fred Thompson doesn't go to church regularly, and isn't afraid to say so.

I've nothing against church goers in general, or even church-going politicians, but I'd much rather have one who doesn't wear his religion on his sleeve. Particularly compared to hypocrites like Bill and Hillary Clinton, who primarily went as a photo op, Bible in hand, usually when trying to tamp down a scandal.

Worse still than Hillary Clinton's fake church attendance, there is the fact that she lawyered for the Libyan terrorists who bombed Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie. Talk about fighting for the other side.

I'm no fan of HRC, but I'll need to see a cite on that ...

Posted by Jay Manifold at September 13, 2007 01:58 PM

I don't have a cite (or at least I don't have time to try to dig one up), but I have a distinct memory of video coverage of Bill's walking into a church, "family" Bible in hand, during one of the many scandals (the blue dress thing, I suspect). I'd be shocked if Hillary wasn't with him at the time, because that would be part of that particular "Sixty Minutes" moment.

Well, here's a cite, Jay (though it's a little dubious, being World Net Daily--unfortunately, it's not the kind of thing that the New York Times would do...). You also have to get past the fact that whoever wrote it doesn't know where the return key is.

But I think that Dick Morris knows Bill and Hillary pretty well, assuming that he's being quoted accurately, and I have no reason to think otherwise:

Clinton does not attend a Baptist church in Washington. Hillary Clinton is a Methodist, and the first family attends the Foundry United Methodist Church. "Her favorite church is the Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco, and it is where she prefers to go for special events. Glide Memorial is a gay church. You can't get any more liberal in theology than the Glide Church," explained William J. Murray, chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition, a Baptist, and the son of famed atheist, Madalyn Murray O'Hair...

He claims Clinton goes to church because it looks good, not because he is really religious. "Bill Clinton goes to church because it's the political thing to do," said Dick Morris in a recent interview.

Rand, I'm pretty sure Jay wanted a cite for Hillary lawyering for the Pan Am Terrorists not her hypocrisy about church. But I could be wrong about that.

Rereading in context, you're probably right. I don't have a cite for that, and agree with Jay that it seems improbable. Fortunately, I didn't make the claim...

Actually it is *Fred Thompson* who was recently found to have done some work on behalf of the Libyan terrorists:

Will the blithering Fredophobes learn how to read the linked articles!?

Fred gave professional advice to a fellow attorney, which person was the one consulting with the Libyan's lawyers. Mmmkay? Fred was in no way, shape, or form "working for the Libyans."

This moronic attempt at slime is nearly pathetic as the old "Clinton cocaine trafficking" charge. Feh.

Funny how the liberal trolls seems to think it is so awful that FRED! worked as a lawyer and rendered legal services to people--aren't they the ones who want to make sure everyone in Gitmo has a lawyer at government expense?

I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton but everything I've heard is that her faith is genuine. It's fairly left wing but it is not fake.
