Petraeus Silenced

I think that we need a new benchmark for this failed Democrat Congress. They need to get their microphones working, or we should set a timetable to pull the pork out of their districts.

The OR' after the first clause really needs to be an AND.

Technical snafus do happen, but this one makes the Dems look foolish. I love it!!

Those of you who think the audio problem was a "SNAFU" have no idea how hard MoveOn will work to try to force a surrender.

If someone would put out some real effort to "follow the money" on MoveOn, it would not surprise me in the least to discover that they are funded by Iran, China, and/or Al-Qaeda.

The Surrender Dems love MoveOn because they do the dirty work.

You're a fool if you think there aren't traitors in our midst, and it will be a harsh lesson to learn.

MoveOn didn't control the microphones. And any advertising strategy that results in the supposedly allied democrat leadership having to disavow all knowledge thereof doesn't strike me as an effective strategy. If it were something more concrete (like killing people or laundering money), then yes, I could see benefit from MoveOn getting dirty while the politicians stay clean. But that doesn't work with propaganda, I think. Transparent and shallow attack ads that result in substantial democrat backpedaling aren't worth the effort.

MoveOn's behavior strikes me more as a show-the-flag patrol for their constituency. They need to demonstrate every so often that they're still out there doing stuff (even if it's counterproductive) so the donations will continue to come. I think a lot of ideologically driven propaganda groups are like that. If their donors stop seeing them in the press, then the group stops getting paid.

The most exaggerated example of this is the God-Hates-Fags group ("Westboro Baptist Church") who will protest anywhere that gets them sufficient press coverage. I gather their donations are solely tied to their ability to be huge jerks. If they cut back on their vitriol even a little, they'd have to get real jobs.

In any case, I see MoveOn's efforts as being counterproductive. If it were really funded by foreign powers bent on the US's emasculation or destruction, then I believe MoveOn's efforts would be much more focused (and more intended to be effective) since they would have only a few donors to please and those donors would probably have clear ideas on what propaganda objectives they wanted satisfied.

Karl,

See it as you will, but couple of points in rebuttal:

I haven't seen any Dems backpedaling, and until they do, my original assertion stands.

Also, you assign competence to a group that is already lacking intelligence to begin with; why assume they know what they're doing? I submit that poor quality is no excuse for intent.

While I would agree that there are many unknowing supporters of MoveOn, I maintain this group is nothing more than unwitting (and witless) pawns in a much larger game.

Does anyone really doubt that most, if not all, of these nutjob anti-war groups are accepting donations from foreign actors?

Does Moveon check where their money is coming from? Do they even care?

Anyone willing to blindly accept the axiom that no foreign money is influencing the political discussions in this country are being willfully ignorant.

The only solution, not only for the groups in question but for our government as well, is full public disclosure of every dollar received, and spent.

Congress has been in DC for two centuries, and they can't get the microphones to work. It's time for the US to pullout.
