Thank You, War On (Some) Drugs

Highway robbery. Literally. By your government.

I recall a similar situation some years back that the '60 Minutes' program covered. (greatly pre-9/11, btw) It involved a man carrying signifigant cash, and a round-trip air ticket with a one-day stopover at his destination. (A *domestic* flight, I might add.)

Worth taking note of? Perhaps. But with absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing, officials likewise tried to impound (indeed, technically they were 'arresting' the money...but not him) his cash, until they learned that the eye of CBS was upon them...

And yes, he was legit. Not a dealer, or otherwise involved in anything illegal.

I recall reading somewhere almost all US currency has traces of cocaine if you set the sensors sensitive enough.

True drug money gets bundled with other money at the banks and very trace amounts are rubbed off onto the surrounding currency, especially in those automatic bill counter devices.

Gosh, the feds could forfeit EVERYONE'S cash and solve the deficit.
