A Perpetual Motion Machine

It sounds great. There's only one problem. It doesn't work:

Despite apparently violating fundamental laws of physics, Steorn planned to demonstrate its machine to the public Wednesday at the Kinetica Museum gallery in London.

Steorn, however, ran into a minor problem -- Orbo isn't working.

Steorn posted a note on its Web site:

"We are experiencing some technical difficulties with the demo unit in London. Our initial assessment indicates that this is probably due to the intense heat from the camera lighting. We have commenced a technical assessment and will provide an update later today."

Yes, of course. Camera lighting. I'm sure that's it.

This is my surprised face.

Did anyone seriously expect anything different?

Once or twice a year I run into people
claiming some type of PMM. Irritable
bunch for the most part.

I find this stuffy attitude alarming for a bunch of supposedly "free thinkers".

As you may or may not know, perpetual motion machines, along with the 500 MPG carburator, the free hydrogen producer and the global broadcast power systems have been extremely successful in the past. Mainly in separating money from not too knowledgible investors. Nevertheless, the inventors of such machines can indeed spend their investor's dollars on energy if they so wish, thereby making it essentually, "free".

Perhaps they could claim that it was converting a small amount of mass into energy. "Interacting magnetic field-induced fusing of free hydrogen in the atmosphere." Try to tap into the whole tabletop fusion device thing.
