Sounds like the "scientific consensus" in one field of science is about to be upset. Couldn't happen anywhere else could it?

The other heretical belief gaining force that all of the so-called 'junk' DNA (that we've ignored because it's so gosh darned hard to sequence) isn't as entirely useless as the gray beards have previously claimed.
The wonderful thing about microbiology and chemistry is that there isn't a multibillion dollar lobbying industry obstructing science because it has a vested interest in the status quo. At most you have to deal with a few cranky old professors with tenure.
