A Story The MSM Won't Tell You Good thing we have a "Department of Homeland Security." Otherwise, things like this might be going on... Posted by Rand Simberg at May 12, 2007 06:23 PMTrackBack URL for this entry:

"...an intrepid investigator and director of the Northeast Intelligence Service..." The what? Posted by Fred Kiesche at May 12, 2007 07:10 PMI've got an idea.... There's similar white supremacist compounds, why don't round those boys up & drop 'em off (with all their weapons) at Islamberg? 2 problems solved. Posted by Frantic Freddie at May 12, 2007 09:33 PMYeah, so what? Isn't it good that they are actually doing some investigating themselves, instead of leaving it all to mommy and daddy to do? Posted by at May 12, 2007 09:47 PMThat article is a bit creepy. A quick Google came up with the town's website: http://islamberg.org Lots of pictures of pretty flowers, but no mention of paramilitary training. Posted by Tom at May 13, 2007 04:05 AMFred- Good catch. I hadn't heard of them, either, but glossed over the name in the report. http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Northeast_Intelligence_Network Posted by Tom at May 13, 2007 04:11 AMLots of pictures of pretty flowers, but no mention of paramilitary training. I don't know what law applies in New York but showing pictures of firing range (if they exist) is going to be something you generally don't want to do. A religious group setting themselves up in the country - no problem. My beef would be if they set themselves above the law. Posted by Brian at May 13, 2007 06:37 PM"...an intrepid investigator and director of the Northeast Intelligence Service..." "The what?" It's a self-appointed watchdog group. What a joke. Paranoid right-wingers. "It's a self-appointed watchdog group." "What a joke. Paranoid right-wingers." Because as we all know, the only legitimate self-appointed watchdog groups belong to paranoid left-wingers! Posted by Brad at May 13, 2007 07:32 PMA religious group setting themselves up in the country - no problem. My beef would be if they set themselves above the law. I'm sure the FBI is keeping an eye on their shooting club, if only because they are getting hundreds of paranoid phonecalls from Islamophobes like Mr Simberg. As hard as this is to believe in American, I suspect that they may, may, be among the 999999/1000000 muslims who aren't terrorists. Posted by Adrasteia at May 13, 2007 07:34 PMI'm an "Islamophobe"? Who knew? Posted by Rand Simberg at May 13, 2007 07:38 PMWell, then, I'm an Islamophobe too. Posted by Norm at May 14, 2007 04:23 AMI'm sure the FBI is keeping an eye on their shooting club, if only because they are getting hundreds of paranoid phonecalls from Islamophobes like Mr Simberg. So the people who reported the Branch Dividians to BATF were Islamophobes? And Paranoid right-wingers? Posted by Leland at May 14, 2007 06:39 AMYou can be sure that if it were "right-wing" Christian "militia types," it would be an important story, and the so-called "liberals" would be up in arms (well, metaphorically speaking, since many of them are actually afraid of guns, preferring to let their government henchman handle them for them). Posted by Rand Simberg at May 14, 2007 06:45 AMI'm an "Islamophobe"? Who knew? I may be commpletely off base, but that's the tone I'm getting from your blog posts. Posted by Adrasteia at May 14, 2007 06:17 PMWell, of COURSE, you're an Islamophobe. Definition: someone who says anything negative related to Islam. Posted by Jim C. at May 14, 2007 10:20 PMDoes the USAF need a new bombing range? Sounds like we've found a good place. Preferably without telling them first.
