More Good News From Anbar
And bad news for the Democrats who want to surrender. The Sunnis are finally figuring out which side they should want to be on. I guess they're realizing that Al Qaeda is not, in the words of bin Laden, the "strong horse."

A key question in the last comment:
"Do we have any reasonable basis on which to assess which way(s) the tribes will break after AQI gets its raisins?"
If the tribes don't back efforts to stabilize Iraq, then it is not progress. Since AQ is but a party to the conflict, rather than its source, eradicating AQ fighters hasn't solved anything (for Iraq) if the Shi'a and Sunnis don't come to the table.

This is the most classic straw man argument I've ever seen, Duncan, and this blog's comments section has seen its share...

Everyone in Iraq hates AQ but that does not mean anyone in Iraq loves the US.

Is Obama a "surrender Democrat" ??
TCS Daily and a number of commentators who tend to lean Right are saying:
"Maybe not"

The fact that AQ is being pushed out of the Sunni tribes in Iraq is unmitigated good news for all Americans and Iraqis.
Whether this is bad news for the Democrats is another question. Without commenting on the latter, one can be pleased about the former.
