Yurimania

TechRepublic has some photos of Yuri's flight, and Yuri's Night, here, and here.

And The Economist wonders if private space is finally ready to take off.

I'm not sure enthusiasm for Yuri's Night necessarily translates into enthusiasm for Newspace (after all, how many really need an excuse to party? And at ARC, anyway, if not at most of the Yuris' Night parties, how many can already be counted as space cadets?).

But the very fact that there is enthusiasm for space is a good thing. Making space cool and innovative (which NASA ain't very good at doing) is definitely a step in the right direction, in terms of getting the younger generations excited and involved.

I saw a lot of "non" space cadets at the party at ARC. It was the first time many of them were exposed to NASA.

Public interest won't build a a space-faring civilization; but it can't be built without it.
