Taxing Away The Wolverines

The WSJ has a piece today on the continuing decline of my home state, where I still have family. It really makes all that nonsensical talk a few years ago about trying to amend the Constitution so that Granholm could run for president seem even more absurd.

Ahhh the benefits of socialism.

What makes this even stranger is the announcement of the new Toyota factory in Tupelo Mississippi. In the past 15 years over 50,000 new automobile manufacturing jobs have come just to the state of Alabama and our unemployment is now down to 3.4% one of the lowest in the nation.

Ahhh the benefits of a Reagan republican government.

Delusion can be a terrifying thing. At least Schwarzeneggar supporters could blame the movies.

I've lived in Michigan all my life, over 30 years, but last week I accepted a job in Florida. I'll be there by the end of the month. The WSJ article outlines one of the biggest reasons why. The economy is damaged beyond repair and destined to getting worse as Governor Barbie is repeating the same mistakes that got them into this mess.

Other reasons I'm leaving:

My alma mater is currently suing the state to maintain a racist enrollment system that would have prevented me from going to that college if it had been in place when I applied.

The Global warming I've been hearing so much about has yet to reach Michigan. I'm sick of snow.

I'll miss my family and the Tigers (esp. now that they're finally winning again) but I can't live here anymore. Would the last person out of Michigan please turn out the lights.
