But Don't Call Them Unpatriotic
Jeff Goldstein has nine reasons that killing Cheney would be justified. (Hint for the clueless--it's satire).
Here's a point that I didn't make in my earlier post.
Just as Mookie agrees with many(/most?) Dems on "the surge," many of the denizens of Huffpo and Metafilter agree with the Taliban that Dick Cheney should die. Can someone remind me again, whose side they're on?
[Update on the evening of February 27th]
Apparently the powers that be decided to put all the anti-Cheney comments down the memory hole.

They're not on anyone's side, Rand. They're not grown up enough to make the compromises necessary to pledge allegiance to any group. Like all childish narcissists, the name of the game is simply attention at any price. To get it, they (1) throw bricks at idols, (2) have tantrums, and (3) say outrageous things. If by some bizarre miracle one of their number became Numero Uno, they'd turn on him just as viciously.
Surely this is all familiar -- haven't you raised any children?

We could only hope. At the risk of invoking Godwin, though, do you suppose there were people in Germany in the 1930s who believed that of the Nazis?

The National Socalists were not narcissist children, generally speaking. Indeed, they were very effective at joining together into groups, and their leader (Hitler) was very good at making small ideological compromises to hold together a larger coalition.
Consider, for example, his betrayal and purge of the left wing of the party (the "socialist" wing of the national socialists, represented most strongly in the SA), done in order to appeal to more conservative mainstream German voters, and in particular the leftover German aristocracy. Speer notes in his famous book that Hitler was very good at adapting his style to suit his audience: in the beer halls he wore overalls and spittle flew from his teeth as he ranted, while when talking to industrialists he wore a suit and tie and spoke polysyllabically in low, measured tones.
The loud and rowdy narcissist left is not particularly dangerous precisely because they are loud and rowdy. They have no sense of self-restraint, and will always brandish the knife in their hands long before they strike (giving you time to get away). Antisocial Hillary with her drive to tunnel her way to power by any means whatsoever is far more dangerous. When that girl (and I use the term loosely) is around, you want to watch your back (and wallet) very carefully.
