The Rest Of The Story While I agree with Don Imus that there's "something wrong with" Chris Matthews, I'm amused to see that no one pointed out the obvious. Imus isn't upset about the F-bomb on his show. He's upset because he owns a ranch. And I love this: Imus: "If you were on ‘Meet the Press’ would you say that? Of course not.”Posted by Rand Simberg at February 07, 2007 10:45 AM TrackBack URL for this entry:

So why don't you like Chris matthews these days? Posted by anonymous at February 7, 2007 09:31 PMChrissy Matthews and Imus. Two people guaranteed to make my teeth ache. And Imus doesn't have much of a leg to stand on when talking about viewers/listeners. That is just too funny. Posted by Greg at February 7, 2007 09:31 PMChrissy is like a hamster on meth, only he makes less sense. Imus: GREAT !@#$ing party at his place. As long as the blow holds out, that is. Posted by Tank McNamara at February 7, 2007 10:53 PMHe's upset because he's owns a ranch. Is that ebonics? Posted by M. Simon at February 7, 2007 11:20 PMMatthews seems obsessed over that ranch. It's weird. He's mentioned it before. Funny, Reagan had a ranch, and I don't recall Matthews kvetching about that. BTW, I couldn't care less if anyone uses the f-word. But Matthews is nuts. Posted by Dean Esmay at February 8, 2007 04:53 AMActually, to be precise, the two were comparing Bush and Giuliani. Imus was upset that Bush owns a ranch. Posted by section9 at February 8, 2007 05:11 AMChris Matthews is certainly not a guy to watch. His liberal bias is too evident and he's another dumb guy from the east coast that thinks he's smart. Way too many people like that from the east coast that are on TV. Posted by Gingerguy at February 8, 2007 05:24 AM"Imus isn't upset about the F-bomb on his show." I must say I'm confused by this assertion, and indeed by the point of this post. The exchange to which you linked focuses almost entirely on Imus' being "upset" by the profanity. Posted by Tom at February 8, 2007 05:30 AMIt's just like Matthews' rantings about "neo-con" Geeks who were teased on playgrounds as children. Imagine his reaction if you were a neo-con geek with ranch! I just got a great idea how to dress-up when I ring his bell on Halloween. Posted by edhesq at February 8, 2007 06:26 AMI save you from the mortification of bad English and don't even get a thank you in the comments? Posted by M. Simon at February 8, 2007 06:33 AMWhy not encourage people in Matthews' position to curse and say whatever else is on their minds? That way, their mothers and the other 4 people who watch their shows will be able to tell the difference between them and real journalists like Dan Rather....er....them and Walter Cronkite....er....Well, you see what I'm getting at. Posted by Namazu at February 8, 2007 06:58 AMWell, someone had finally shown where the true division lies in this country. Chris' comments about the ranch and Giuliani make it pretty clear. It's city people against the country people. As a matter of the latter group, I've suspected as much for some time. City People! It's all about THEM. The half-baked schemes about conservation, the environment, endangered species, forestry, air pollution, drilling for oil, and national security (just to name a few) get cooked up in the cities by the city people and imposed on the rest of us by mandate and regulation. These poorly thought out/unworkable schemes must then be lived with for decades by people living outside the beltway. Meanwhile fuel & lumber costs go up, jobs are lost, and now, children and livestock get attacked by deliberately introduced carnivores. Wouldn't be so bad if the city people had the honesty to 'fess up and say, "Yeah, that didn't work so well; it didn't help at all and caused problems. Wish we hadn't done it; we'll change it tomorrow.". But Nooooo.....they absolutely cannot admit when they're wrong. The typical response to a self-created disaster by these city-based regulatory activists is more of the same. I'll say one thing for Chris Matthews; he brought the division out into the open. The city people despise the country folk. Let it be known that the country folk increasingly have little use for the city people. had = has Doesnt Don Imus own a big ranch? Isnt that the point of the stupid pretend cowboy hat he always wears? Posted by buzz at February 8, 2007 08:22 AM555JM: Speaking as a city person, but one with his heart in the country, I can attest to the accuracy of your observation. Posted by Vinnie Vidivici at February 8, 2007 09:51 AMYes buzz,Imus does own a ranch in New Mexico: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imus_Ranch And should you ever come west,it would be inadvisable to use the term "stupid pretend cowboy hat",we take our hats very seriously here. Posted by Frantic Freddie at February 8, 2007 09:53 AMHave you seen pictures of said hat? Are you really going to defend it? Have you ever seen a real cowboy wear a hat like that? Out west where I also live, I have only seen posers wear a hat like that. I stand behind my "stupid pretend cowboy hat" comment. Yes,I've seen his hat, looks to me like a typical beat-up,scraggly,working ranch-type hat.I have one,as do a lot of my friends, but then we don't live in the city & only wear our good hats to go into town. You need to read the article,it wasn't Imus that said he hated ranch owners,it was Matthews talking about Bush's ranch. Posted by Frantic Freddie at February 8, 2007 12:38 PMOh,and I live a little over an hour from Imus's ranch. Posted by Frantic Freddie at February 8, 2007 12:39 PMI haven't seen Mr. Imus's hat, but perhaps it is multi-purpose like a swiss army knife. You know, doubles as a high gain antenna, and serves to increase Earth's albedo and combat global warming. Posted by Karl Hallowell at February 8, 2007 01:15 PMMr. Talkover is the most inept and annoying interviewer on TV Posted by Terry Gain at February 9, 2007 04:48 AMI think 555JM is dead on. Indeed, one need only look at the Red/Blue election map to see he's right. Posted by Leland at February 9, 2007 11:13 AMPost a comment |
