Media Alzheimer's

They seem to continue to rediscover the same "fact" every year or so:

Finally! The first time the Bush administration ever acknowledged global warming! At least, since 2001, when President Bush said:

First, we know the surface temperature of the earth is warming. […] And the National Academy of Sciences indicate that the increase is due in large part to human activity.

Advocacy journalism 101: repeat the same thing over and over in different ways and eventually the casual resistance of your readers will be broken down. They'll accept it as the new default and you can start the next link.

If they went back that far, they could go back a little further and discover that the Senate promised to not approve Kyoto and that Clinton/Gore never submitted the treaty for approval, thus killing it during the 1990's. Unfortunately in early 2001, mentioning such things would have ruined the fun story that Dubya sold out our environment for a $300 tax refund (of course, the $300 was Joe Lieberman's idea, but that was "forgotten" too).

I don't remember where on the web I read it, but some scientist recently hypothesized that 1) humans have been contributing to global warming since the beginning of civilization, and 2) it's a good thing we did.

The idea is that clearing forests for living space and agriculture increases the amount of CO2 in the air, while livestock adds methane to the mix. The result has been some human contribution to global warming. The warming in turn has prevented (or may prevent) the next ice age. An ice age would be much more difficult for humans to deal with than a sea level rise of a few feet.

Hey, if it worked for Hitler it can work for you.

PS. "Your comment could not be submitted due to questionable content: you"

Odd that the filter finds 'you' offensive but not hitler...
