Reading Miscomprehension
In the course of searching for something else, I just ran across this old post, that I'd never seen before, in which I was astonished to read:
This brings me to Rand Simberg, a smart guy that is a big supporter of ID (that’s slang for Intelligent Design).
Apparently, he somehow infers that I'm a supporter of ID because I believe that science is a method of achieving knowledge, rather than a compendium of facts. But I don't see how anyone could have read that post, or any other that I've written on the subject, and think that I support ID in any way, let alone a "big" one.

Anonymous Jew Hater,
Perhaps you have this Rand Simberg confused with the other Rand Simberg.
If I can show proof of his criticism of a Bush policy, will you either go away or self-euthanize?

It's going to be hard to eat your Christmas dinner with somebody putting words in your mouth.

RETARD! I think is the term.
There is no way you have ever been a proponent of ID, you simply make statements about the nature of science, without making final conclusions.
Just as you described, science is an endeavour, not an absolutism of fact.

Rand,
I'm not going to try to find our email correspondence on this, but, you did do a post several years ago which could be interpreted as support for ID.
Your vehement denial of this in an email to me forever confirmed to me that this is something beyond the pale for you.
So, with several years of blog posts since then some idiot still thinks this is something you'd support?
What, he reads you every three years or so?
Mike

Uh huh. Sure he did.

I glanced at that site. Reading it was like listening to nails across a chalkboard. That perfect combination of arrogance and condescension or was it ignorance and stupidity?

Misinterpretation by the reader is the reader's problem.

As we see, misinterpretation by the reader also becomes the author's problem.

Perhaps I should have said "fault," but that sounds so <shudder> judgmental.
