Oh boy, we get to kick Mr. "orbital mind control lasers" around again! Someone I know voted for him and still has a Kucinich '04 bumper sticker on her car--I'm sure she'll be glad about this. I am too, because it means fun times are coming. I had no idea he had so many failures. Run Dennis run! Someone has to drag the Democrat party back to the partys liberal roots that it has abandoned! (Sarcasm, if anyone is wondering) Posted by Cecil Trotter at December 11, 2006 05:37 PMWell, perhaps the "tinfoil hat" appellation is unfair. You might disagree with Kucinich on the basis of naiveté, but I see no particular evidence of paranoia. I did read the bill he proposed that you linked to, Rand. I read it as an attempt to secure the demilitarization of space, but not an especially well-thought-out one. Did it ever make it out of committee? I'd be surprised if it did. Posted by Jane Bernstein at December 12, 2006 10:25 AMWell, perhaps the "tinfoil hat" appellation is unfair. You might disagree with Kucinich on the basis of naiveté, but I see no particular evidence of paranoia. Did you miss this part, Jane? "...through the use of land-based, sea-based, or space-based systems using radiation, electromagnetic, psychotronic, sonic, laser, or other energies directed at individual persons or targeted populations for the purpose of information war, mood management, or mind control of such persons or populations..." Emphasis mine. Your mileage may vary, but that sounds pretty paranoid to me, particularly when combined with the worries about "chemtrails," a little farther down in the bill. Did it ever make it out of committee? I'd be surprised if it did. Thankfully, no. Of course, that was in a Republican Congress. Next year, who knows? Posted by Rand Simberg at December 12, 2006 10:32 AMOh, I took that as an attempt to outlaw space basing of things like that very low frequency EM stuff that some people think might make you feel crappy if the power levels were high enough. I don't think the science holds up on that, but if you were naive enough you might believe it. Posted by Jane Bernstein at December 12, 2006 11:25 AM"mind control" != "feeling crappy." I take him at his word. He's a moonbat. And tinfoil would probably keep away the "feeling crappy" rays. Posted by Rand Simberg at December 12, 2006 11:41 AMHey Rand, I think Kucinich reads your blog! He introduces HR 2977 in 10/02/01, you post about it 01/15/02 and then on 01/23/02 he introduces a similar bill (HR 3616) but with most of the tinfoil hat language removed! Could it be... nah.... but maybe, Kucinich = anonymous??? Posted by Cecil Trotter at December 12, 2006 11:56 AMHey Rand, I think Kucinich reads your blog! Now there's a scary thought. Actually, that idiotic bill was beaten up by many people at the time. Even if he didn't get it, I'm sure that committee minority staffers did.
