Dean Barnett is as unimpressed as I am with the election of Trent Lott as Minority Whip:

If there’s one message that the electorate sent the Republican Party last week, it’s that we hadn’t given them enough of Trent Lott.

...Is it just me, or is it becoming increasingly apparent that the Republicans and Democrats are determined to engage in a two year dumb-off? If it weren’t for the fact that there are some very determined lunatics out there trying to kill us, this would be funny.

And in honor of the pork-loving, segregation-missing helmet head, I bring you this reprise of my take on his downfall, which didn't happen soon enough, and now seems to have been stupidly reversed. (Hard to believe that was almost four years ago.)

The Senate GOP needs a whip, not a wet noodle.
