Getting The Stories Straight

Over at The Space Review today, Dwayne Day brings some clarity to the "debate" over the administration's new space policy, and Jim Oberg demonstrates the cluelessness of many commentators on space weaponry.

Also, Jeff Foust reviews a recent attempt at space commentary by the Utne Reader. It shows that "progressives" are as out to lunch on this topic as most are.

Just as a side note, this is my eight thousandth post here, and I neglected to note my fifth bloggiversary last month.

First time I read the opening statement I thought you were saying Jim was clueless!

Jim's article needs to be front page on every paper in the US to counter the coverage given to the "ignorant" view of the space policy. I don't think for a minute that Putin believes that ignorant view, he's just using it for political advantage. Yet again the media being the accomplices, either willingly or ignorantly, of those who do not have our best interests in mind.

Russia also operates from a substantial disadvantage. They can't compete in a space arms race with their society in its current shape. So long term it's better for them, if they can delay US (and Chinese) military capability in space.

Gratz on the good run with transterrestrial.com Rand. I admire your perseverance with keeping the "free ice cream' coming for the rest of us kiddies.

Does the eight thousand include posts by Sam Dinkin, or just yourself? [/nitpick]

Five years, it's been a good run... keep it coming. :)

It's all posts by all posters (including Sam and Andrew Case and a couple others), but the vast majority are mine.
