Well, So Far...

Doomsday isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm sure the end will be along any minute, though...

I'm thinking this is what all the shouting was about.

Right up there with the stealth speedboat and the supersonic submarine, I guess.

Ah, a "multi-dimensional" response to the "nuclear incentives" offer. Definitely worth the wait.

I knew it probably wouldn't be the end of the world, but I chanced it anyway!! I skipped buying my weekly lottery ticket last Saturday, and naturally my numbers came up. I figured I'd never live to collect, apocalyptically speaking.

Oh, well, I'm sure another end of the world will be coming along any day now.

No news here:
A rebuff would not yet trigger immediate action by the U.N. Security Council, which passed a resolution on July 31 giving Iran a month to halt enrichment or risk sanctions.

"We are not treating (Tuesday) as a deadline because it is not the Security Council deadline," one Western diplomat said. "If Iran flatly refuses to suspend enrichment, then there will, fairly soon, be more talks in the Security Council."

As for the magical August 22nd date, as soon as the news came out that the date coincided with the end of the month for the Persian Calendar; it was no longer interesting to me. Ahmadinejad is not the first politician to say, "Get back to me at the end of the month." Also, while I don't agree with Iran enriching uranium; I see no reason why he should feel threatened by the UN.

Another great opportunity for estates and trust work squandered.
