The Holy Land
With the Middle East seemingly on a rolling boil right now, Taylor Dinerman has a new review of Bob Zubrin's 2003 satire The Holy Land. I briefly reviewed it myself a couple years ago, and it sadly remains very topical today.

This book says a lot more about Bob Zubrin than it does about the Middle East. Basically it's humor for the humorless, just as the Rush Limbaugh show is. I have to say, so is Al Franken lately, even though his politics is a lot more sensible than that of either Zubrin or Limbaugh. It isn't very good humor if you only laugh at people or ideas that you don't respect.
(It's just as well that Franken isn't all that popular in his new persona as a Rush Limbaugh wannabe. His network doesn't hold a candle to NPR, where people really can laugh at themselves.)
Anyway, history will be kind to Zubrin's clumsy anti-Arab war screed, by burying it with millions of other obscure books. He won't even be much criticized for it.

Or rather, history will be kind to Zubrin himself by ignoring his book. That's what I meant to say.

MJ: "...so is Al Franken lately, even though his politics is a lot more sensible....."
You've just confirmed yourself to be a complete idiot.

Mike, have you ever offered a comment here that was more about the post than about your opinion of things never more than marginally related to the post?
Every time you sit down to type, it tells us more about you than about the topic of the thread. And to be candid, none of us cares.
