Looking For CEV Help
Any readers I have who are interested in working on the CEV program (despite any disparaging remarks I may have made about it) have an opportunity now, if you have the right experience and skill set. The company with which I'm consulting, ARES Corporation, is hiring, for both southern California and Houston.
If you go there as a result of this post, please let them know, so we know how effective it is, relative to other ad media.

Interested, but will they hire Canadians? I know ITAR is usually the issue.

I don't know, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Are you already here?

I'm a senior engineering student, graduating in April '07. I've worked at a space start-up in Seattle on a previous workterm and currently work in Canada on commercial and military aviation programs. Does Ares already have a TCP for foreign employees? The website says "U.S. Citizenship MAY be required."
It's amusing that I can work on U.S. Navy and USAF programs from a building located in Canada, but would not be allowed to do the exact same work if the building was located 100km south of its present location. I know this is because of the economies of scale involved in implementing a TCP for an entire company vs. one individual employee, but now I digress.

Tempting, but too long a commute from Fort Worth. What do y'all think of telecommuters?

Well, I do it a lot, from my home in Florida. No one really cares, as long as the job gets done and there's sufficient amount of face time to make that happen. If you'd be willing to go to Houston occasionally, they might go for it. Can't hurt to apply (other than your time).

They might want to spell Grumman correctly...

"ARES Corporation, a world leader in safety and mission assurance and teamed with Northrup Gruman and Boeing."

Nitpicker. Details are unimportant in the aerospace business.

Oh, I'd be jumping at this had it come along a few years ago. Now I've got a job that I am happy with, though.

You must be a US citizen or permanent resident alien.
