Little Far North For Rednecks, But...
...hey, I guess it can happen anywhere:
State fire officials say a Woodside-area man was seriously burned last night in an explosion after he poured gunpowder into a charcoal grill and ignited it.
And imagine my surprise to read this:
Investigators believe alcohol played a part in the incident.
Guess they left out the part about "Hold muh beer...."
And yes, these are getting more and more difficult to categorize. I need more categories, but I suspect that the need will be bottomless, given the nature of the world...

Not too many years ago, Paul Harvey started his noon news with a story about stampeding elephants. His point? That now we live in a world where news is NOW, regardless of WHERE, and we no longer have the ability to put it in perspective. Sure, some twit put gunpowder on his charcoal, like folk put LOX on their charcoal. He was just a tad more stupid, a tad less lucky, and a tad closer to a news outlet. Oh how I sometimes long for the days when it took weeks to get news to and from the Mother Country! So just classify it under "miracle of the communication age", because otherwise we never would have heard of it. B3 in the local news.

Remember the "Farm Film report" on SCTV?
"He blowed up real good!"

There's actually a violation called 'reckless exploding?'
Okay, I suppose it covers recreational misuse of pyrotechnics and explosives, but it gives me visions of a pointless law to deter suicide bombing...

And he survived. This may explain why rednecks don't believe in evolution.
