Latin Question
Descarte said "Cogito, ergo sum," (I think, therefore I am).
What would the equivalent be for "I think, therefore they are"?

Leave it to a med school grad.
Thank you.
I hate to tell you how many years it's been since high-school Latin...

My high school Hebrew is similarly rusty.

I have to believe that my Latin is worse, just on the basis of the passage of time...

In all seriousness, I once read namy years ago that Descarte said, "Je pense, donc je suis." As I remember, the writer was of some repute and was not just kidding around.
An interesting discouse on the idea of being can be found in _Decarte's Error_. The writer is a well-known neuro-psychiatrist, but I can't remember his name.

Ah, but did you hear how René Descartes died? A waiter at his favorite restaurant asked him, "The onion soup today, Monsieur?" and he replied, "I think not..." and disappeared.
No, really. True story.

We would never doubt you, Jane. I'm certain that it happened just the way you said.
