Comeback

It's not even to the All-Star break yet, and the Tigers have already won more games this year than they did in all of 2003 (this win today was their forty-third). They have the best record in the majors and are leading their division. I'm not a big baseball fan (or sports fan in general) but I do retain a lot of loyalty to the home-town teams of my youth (Tigers, Lions, Woverines). I may actually sit down and watch a few games this year.

Uh oh. I'm a White Sox fan.

My wife got us Cubs tickets for tomorrow. Although (perhaps because) she is a Cubs fan, I usually root for the White Sox and whoever the Cubs are playing.

But tomorrow they are playing Detroit. Go Cubs, go!

Cheers. :-)

May the best team win, Bill.

Though it would sure be a moral booster for the Motor City, amidst the decimation of the American auto industry, if they could pull out another championship. It helped heal the town after the 1967 riots when they won the championship in 1968.

Hrm... Well, the Pistons couldn't pull it off this year with the best record in the league; they got bumped off early. The Redwings suffered a similar fate with the best record. If 3rd time's the charm, then MAYBE the Tigers have a chance of not swooning in October, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

I've been waiting a long time to post about that, so thank you for providing me the bait. :-)

Let's hope that by voicing your enthusiasnm for the Tigers that you don't jinx their efforts.

Like when we say things akin to, "...I haven't had a flat tire in years!!" or "..my car starts no matter how cold it is outside, it's has been running like a top!", and then you know what happens.

Go Padres!!

Uh oh.

Around here, we've got a different strategy ...
