"Ward Churchill Should Be Fired"

That's common sense to most people who've been following this case, but it's a shocking statement from an academic committee.

"Others raised concerns that a crackdown on Churchill would set a bad precedent when it comes to academic freedom."

So "academic freedom" is a synonym for "lying sack o'shit"?

Glad they're willing to admit it.

"Others raised concerns that a crackdown on Churchill would set a bad precedent when it comes to academic freedom."

I would say his academic freedom will be intact, as will his right to free speech. But he has mistaken the freedom of speech for academic freedom. Plagiarism and theft are not protected by any of our rights. They are on the contrary against he law.

His academic freedom, as with all of us, means he can learn whatever he wants, and teach whatever he wants, if someone will of course pay him to do so. It's just that, based on his actions away from the classroom, his present employer wants to exercise their academic freedom, and freedom to hire and fire personnel as they see fit, and now they want to show him the gate!

Churchill like many other academic types has lived for so long in the rarified atmosphere of academia that he thinks he is above the common law, above the average person.

Actually he lives in the rarified atmosphere of MACADAMIA, i.e. he's nuts!!

GAFFAW!

get it...Academia...Mac-a-damia....they're nuts...he's nuts....in the head... where his brain sits.....Bwahahahah. Hey if our atmosphere was made of Macadamia nuts then all this global warming would leave us with the pleasant roasted flavor of Planters nuts morning to sunset. Somehow I think people would complain an awful lot less. Awww, to dream....to sleep no more.

I don't know. If our atmosphere were to be made of macadamia though, (yummiest of all chocolate covered nuts), the Australian trade deficit will be closed in no time.
