Good Riddance To Vile Jihadist Rubbish

Ding dong, the Zarkman is dead. Dr. Sanity has a roundup of predictable reactions from the "insanreality-based community."

Here are some more, from the Kos Krazies. I particularly like this one:

"Yes the timing of Zarqawi's death does seem too good for Bush to be true. It reeks of distraction politics."

Yes, the old "timing is suspect" comment. There's never a coincidence with this crowd. What would they have said a hundred forty three years ago?

Maybe something like this:

TIMING OF UNION "VICTORIES" VIEWED AS SUSPICIOUS

July 5th, 1863

WASHINGTON (Routers) While many rejoiced at the news of the simultaneous fall of Vicksburg and bloody Union "victory" at Gettysburg, some question the timing of the two events. They accuse the Lincoln administration of orchestrating good news, at the cost of thousands of our children's lives, to coincide with the nation's birthday, in an attempt to prop up its sagging poll ratings.

"Grant could have taken Vicksburg any time over the last few weeks. Why on the Fourth of July?" asked one Democrat staffer. He went on, "...and why didn't Lincoln order Meade to defeat Lee on July 1st? Why let the battle go on for three blood-drenched days?"

There are rumors, in fact, that after the recent indecisive battle of Brandy Station, President Lincoln ordered General Meade to allow General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia to forage in Pennsylvania, in order to stir up a martial frenzy among a public whose enthusiasm for this war, that benefits only arms merchants, has been waning.

"This was all trumped up by that war-mongering cabal headed by Lincoln and Stanton, to cover up their incompetence in waging this senseless Republican war," proclaimed one Senator. "I'm very suspicious of the timing."

You fixed it. :)

Now, now... The quote from the Dem Underground was actually kinda funny.

Posted by John Breen III at June 8, 2006 09:56 AM

I was amused by Professor Cole's contention that there was no relationship between al Zarqawi and bin Laden.

I spent an hour flipping the channels this morning and the Big 3 were all had suspicion based reports on this. All their experts made the point that this was"...JUST ONE MAN!" I found it odd that ALL 3 networks found an expert whose first statement was worded exactly the same.

I guess the Democrat Talking Points were out before the 6 o'clock news started this morning.

Then again, maybe their experts are losing gravitas.

And lest we forget, Lincoln was dismissively referred to by the "loyal opposition" as a chimp on more than one occasion....coinkydink? I think NOT!

Posted by Mike at June 8, 2006 12:22 PM

A better example would have been the capture of Atlanta by Sherman which many historians actually credit with Lincoln's bacon being saved in the 1864 election.

Of course, breaking the news on Haditha the weeked of Memorial Day was purely coincidence.

Posted by Leland at June 8, 2006 12:50 PM

Actually, Lincoln was more typically referred to as 'the original gorilla' by several luminaries in the Democratic apparat, most notably McClellan and Horace Greeley.

Very clever satire Rand, one of your best.

LOL!! But I think you mean "143 years ago"

Posted by exhelodrvr at June 8, 2006 01:13 PM

The Democratic party has been behaving like it did during the Civil War. Even the rhetoric is amazingly similar.

And we all know what happened to the Democratic party during that time period. Took them a full generation to even remotely get back to where they were before they started calling Lincoln an "ape" and an "idiot". Took them a full generation to even remotely get back to where they were before they started demanding troop withdrawals, calling for appeasment of the South, calling the Civil War an "unjust war", having anti-war riots and having "peace" demonstrations with the Cindy Sheehans of the time.

The Democratic party-never learned from it's history so it is condemned to repeat it.

Just one man?

"A thousand throats can be slit in one night, by a running man."

If nothing else, Zarqawi will personally slice no more.

And hopefully, Bin Laden is sweating a few extra beads tonight.

Al Capone was 'just one man,' and no one believed the Mafia would fold with his conviction, either. But everyone on this side of the law rejoiced anyway, I suspect.

Whatever the timing, I'll take it.

Ummm... Wasn't it more than one man though? Wasn't it around 6 or so with a whole bunch more killed in raids around the town? Hmmm.....

Where can we find the RSS feed to Routers?

Great post!

I'm shocked, shocked! that this didn't come out before the elections Tuesday! What happened to Rove's timing??

Posted by Sandy at June 8, 2006 05:32 PM

On Presidents as primates: I'm fairly certain I remember reading, when I was a child, a contemporary reference to Lincoln as "the Orang-Outang in the White House" in a book series on the history of the Presidents.

He wanted to get it in before the World Cup started?

Posted by Bandit at June 9, 2006 05:04 AM

US command in Iraq are now saying Zarqawi was still alive when pulled from the rubble and he even tried to escape from the gurney he was placed on. That is awesome news, I'm glad the SOB lived long enough to know he was done for.

Posted by Cecil Trotter at June 9, 2006 06:46 AM

The speculation has been raised on one of my mailing lists that the Zarkman isn't actually dead, but rather reported dead while hopefully being sprited away to some rather intense questioning.

One can always hope.
