What Would We Do Without Experts?

Recent groundbreaking research indicates that (are you sitting down?--I don't want to feel responsible for anyone who hurts themselves falling to the floor in shock) many teenage girls feel pressure from boys to have sex.

Yes, I believe I read that study in "Duhhh" magazine.

Sorry, but I think you missed the political context. The girls didn't just feel pressured to have sex, they felt they were pressured into sex. This, by the gender feminist definition, is RAPE.

Studies, even bogus ones, have been very useful in the past to the gender feminists. The "Violent football husbands" study, the "Girls are hurt at school because they aren't as agressive as boys in raising their hands" study to name just two.

I'd say this study is another attempt to get back to the pre-Clinton days when men were scared to death to say anything even remotely sex related in front of a women for fear of repercussions up to and including job loss.

Don't expect them to get much help from modern culture in resisting the pressure either. Today the idea that it might not be a good thing for teenagers to have sex is practically a dead notion, almost entirely replaced by the command for girls to start having sex as soon as they get their first bra, because if they don't, they risk being condemned as "prudes," "virgins," "stuck up bitches," "frigid," and all of the other epithets that have always been used to get women under the thumb of men. At least in the old days they had the benefit of at least having to be married first (and so at least getting the title of "wife"), but now that bit of social standing is almost totally meaningless.

I especially like how they say that they are not sure how well the sexual problems of inner city teens that visit free clinics map to the general population... talk about understatement!

But they are not "pressured" into being sluts by seeing the lifestyles of Paris Hilton, Britney, Madonna, etc, ad naseum!

They certainly are not "pressured" into being sexual by seeing Hip Hop videos, movies, Desperate Housewives, or by a general attitude in our country that sex is open, free and fun with no bad circumstances.

Well that settles it, ALL the evils of the world rest firmly at the feet of MEN!!!

BULL-LONEY!!!

From the parents I know, the young women getting caught being sexually active are WILLING participants!! They may feel pressured to start with, but they are ENJOYING it later, just like those mean boys are!! Most of these girls are making a conscious decision to remain “technical virgins”. If you have the presence of mind to make that choice, then choice is indeed a factor.

Part of the problem here is the girls are unable to use a word most 13 to 30 year olds are unfamiliar with.

NO!!!

If you’ve never been told NO, you don’t know to say it to anyone either.

New study out suggests "many college lecturers, particularly those teaching social sciences, feel pressure to publish pointless studies in an effort to obtain tenure".

Andrea,

I think you are spot on. Heck, in many communities, marriage is not considered at any age, much less as a prerequisite for sex. It's as if people are little more than barnyard animals.
