Makes you wonder, are they afraid of the toy planes, or are they afraid of the reminder that they were thoroughly defeated in WW2? Either way, those who forget (or ignore) their history...

Who to root for: drunken English soccer fans or pussified Germans. Can we have another choice?

I'm leaning toward the drunken Brits. Remember "Sod off, Swampy"?

I do like how the Spits are marked with the Cross of St George rather then the Union Jack. :)

The last paragraph was interesting - some areas in Germany are in the midst of a measles epidemic and they're worried about inflatable planes.

Let me say that I am not in favor of the Nazis. Neo or original variety. The entire idea of a superior race strikes me as self-agrandizement.
At any rate, the Nazi leaders of old must be spinning in their graves to see how the mighty Aryan Race has become so PC, and down right wimpy!! I expect even the French could defend themselves against the Germans of the 21st Century.
SEIG WIMP!!

Americans would never do something so tacky.
Would we fly inflatable B-29's over Tokyo? Of course not. What's past is past.
On an unrelated note, the Home Secretary is an idiot. It doesn't "glorify Germany's Nazi past" to fly Spitfire balloons. Does he not know the Spitfire was a British design that flew against the Nazis' Bf-109?

Based on discussions I use to have in another forum with a German, it's the reminder. Many Germans living today played no role in WWII, yet feel they are still blamed for what happened 60 years ago. They are very touchy about the subject, and they despise the fact that they cannot outgrow a history that is not of their own making.
That said, this is the FIFA World Cup 2006. The Germans should play along and send up a fleet of inflatable Me-262's.
