Something Long Needed
Not that I'm a conservative, but I think that many of those who are will find it useful. A petition for conservatives against Intelligent Design.

To tell you the truth, it does concern me the way evolution is taught in school - just like it concerns me the way newtonian physics is taught. Instead of teaching the "current facts" as unalterable truths, it would be nice is schools taught them as constantly evolving (heh) theories, open to change as we learn more. Might help people pick up a little more critical thinking. I also think it would bear mentioning that there is a debate about God going on in the real world, but that as a science class you are going to ignore that debate and concentrate on things we have learned using the scientific method instead.
I am very afraid of public schools. I am more afraid of my children not learning to deal with "normal" people, so my kids go to public schools - but I do worry about it.

See David gets it too. I think kids should be out in the general populace learning different ideas from what I, or Rand, or whoever believes. They should be exposed to people who don't go to their church, or brand of church. People who aren't in their socio-economic class and who may or may not make it in the real world.
I think evolution should be taught in public schools, God(s) should be taught in the home or the church of your choice. There should be some mention of the fact that there are differing opinions.

There doesn't seem to be an option to sign this petition if you don't live in America.
England (no, I don't mean the UK - Scots have more sense) appears to be just beginning this nonsense - fundamentalist "faith schools" promoting creationism, and the Government sitting on its hands. Perhaps because our Education Secretary is a member of Opus Dei, the fundamentalist arm of the Catholic Church?
