Moving On To The Next Stage In Media

I've come to this conclusion myself (actually a couple years ago, but I've been too lazy to do much about it). As a result of that, I had Andrew Case co-blogging with me for a while, until events overtook him, and Sam Dinkin has been helping out some. I just can't hold down this fort by myself and make a living as well (at least not until I get circulation and potential ad revenue up).

But as this weekend shows, I need help. I'm soliciting potential co-bloggers (at the risk of hurting feelings of those I don't select, but it's no different than a job interview in that respect). If you think you have something interesting to say on space policy, technology policy, and policy in general, drop me a line (or even audition and make your case in comments here).

My experience is that many people who I would have thought would be good bloggers...aren't. It takes more than writing skill to be a blogger. It takes an attitude. You have to not only be willing to let your first draft hang out there, you have to be eager to. People who have actually been bloggers will have a leg up on people who are simply published writers, because they've demonstrated they have the chops for getting things up there quickly and timely.

I'm putting out feelers to people I know, but I'm opening up the opportunity to all readers. If you want to be part of this site beyond commenting occasionally (or more than occasionally), make your case.

Rand, I accept your offer. I hope I can bring to blogging the same honesty and integrity that I brought to the network news.

Courage.

I would like to second Dan's proposal. He'll be able to bring the inherent professionalism of the main stream media, and dare I say it, a moral compass, to a medium that is sorely lacking in those virtues.

I would apply except for a few minor shortcomings.
Little things like skill, talent, time, and interesting subject matter.

Hi Rand,

Definitely hire those in the parent comment for the satire section.

I tend to read TM each day, and I've been doing so for several years. I got into it from reading the various arguments on sci.space.policy.

I am interested in group blogging. I spent a few months writing for my own blog, but work and a death in the family curtailed my posting. It still serves as a good reference for my blog posting style. PoliticalFred.bl*gspot.com -- change the * to an "O". You'd find that we agree on political philosophy -- you may or may not think this is important. I appreciate the diversity of political view point on TM now that Sam is posting here.

I have a background in astrophysics and an interest in private space development. If you search for freddo411 in s.s.p you can see some of my thoughts -- although I haven't posted there in years. Unlike my previous blog, I'd like to post more on science and space events.

Hope you get some great new bloggers here.

Cheers

I chose to comment as a blog post and rely on the trackback function to alert you. For whatever reason, that doesn't seem to be working, so here is a link:

I admit my interest is less on policy then progress, but I've found your site interesting for some years now (4 maybe?). Whoever you select, I hope you're able to continue the blog.

I'm not going to ask to be part of the group, much as I do like Transterrestrial. Instead, I want to point out that Dan Schrimpsher of spacepragmatism.bl*gsp*t.com deserves a wider audience. Consider him.
