Oops
X-37 finally had a successful flight today, but a not-so-successful landing:
...the vehicle experienced an "anomaly" and went off the runway, DARPA spokeswoman Jan Walker told me. The X-37 team is investigating what went wrong, and no further information was available immediately, Walker said.
No apparent word as to how much damage, if any, and what caused it.

But can they rebuild the pilot, making him better, faster, and stronger?

If the X-37 were still a NASA project, they'd try to make him faster, better, cheaper.

UAVs go off the runway quite frequently.
I'm willing to bet the investigation reveals there was no pilot onboard. :-)

DARPA now says the damage was minor. Nose landing gear "heavily damaged," but main landing gear and aircraft "structurally intact." Still no word as to cause, though it sounds as if the darn thing was just going faster than expected and didn't slow down as quickly as expected.

..in a related story, doctors will remove the seat cushion from between the pilots rear cheeks prior to any further flight tests. The flight surgeon on duty at Mojave Airport says it looked like a "pucker factor" of between 8.4 and 8.7, as the vehicle was on the ground, but still at a fairly high rate of speed when the mishap occurred. No surgery is expected to be needed, but several good shots of bourbon are indeed in the pilots future, as an expedient to "relaxation".
This is CNN...
