Oh, Am I Annoying You?

As Paul Hsieh says, you don't necessarily have to be autistic to find this device useful:

A device that can pick up on people's emotions is being developed to help people with autism relate to those around them. It will alert its autistic user if the person they are talking to starts showing signs of getting bored or annoyed.

Or maybe cluelessness on this front is one of the defining characteristics of autism.

Excellent just what autistic people need a laptop strapped to their back and a video camera attached to their glasses. The function of which is to ensure that the other people won’t feel uncomfortable around them. Is that a joke? Most of the really bright people I know are very deliberate. They could be described by those that don’t really pay attention as slow, when quite the opposite is true. They in effect have the same problem as the autistic. That problem is boneheads, and really that’s not their problem.

If it helps them, they'll buy it. If it doesn't, they won't.
