Welcome To The Family
Well, actually, it's a whole new family. Of crustacean:
The animal is white and 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) long -- about the size of a salad plate.
In what Segonzac described as a "surprising characteristic," the animal's pincers are covered with sinuous, hair-like strands.
Wonder what it tastes like?

How do we know this is a new animal? Couldn't it be the product of some Shrimpback Mountain scenario?
I can see the ad in the personal section of the Mariannes Trench Times:
LHM shrimp seeks C or L for late night strolls along reef, SP lifestyle acceptable, cocktail sauce a turn off, do you like Pina Coladas? No tuna need apply please!!
here is the legend if you can't get to the MTT on line edition.
LHM = long-haired male
C = crab
L = lobster
SP = South Pacific

Hairy lobsters? What -- no "super creeps?"

...and I just realized my previous comment was even more obscure than intended, having also been an inside joke with a long-ago friend of mine who used "hairy lobsters" in place of "scary monsters" from a song lyric.
My bad.

So this week we have new animals and OLD animals. Here is an AP report about an animal that was supposed to be extinct for 11 million years. I'll bet its got really grey fur and if its male it's bald.
