This article is a few weeks old, but I missed it at the time--Max Borders writes about the Intelligent Design theories of the left.

If I had to name the one most important concept in science, it would be "creative destruction." It's how evolution works; it's how quantum field theory (and therefore physics except for relativity) works; it's how economics works (when it works); it's how democracy works (to the extent it works); and it's how science works.
Unfortunately, as Max Borders's article illustrates, far more people passionately advocate particular applications of creative destruction, than understand the concept of creative destruction. Apparently, no large group consistently believes in the concept.

"Indeed, if ever there were a view of economics that builds in the blind, purposeless processes of trial-and-error, specialization, and complexity (the hallmarks of the Darwinian algorithm) it is Smith’s invisible-hand economics"
Not surprising, since Darwin's formulation was directly shaped by reading Smith and Malthus.
