Where is the problem here? The very title of the article says that this is much ado about nothing. The linked story openly says,
"NBC’s Williams apologizes after Obama-Ford mix-up."
If Brian Williams says he sorry, let it go.
I just wonder though what would the articles title have been if Misters O'Reilly, Hannity, or Limbaugh had done this or, God forbid, Mr. Bush? Maybe not in The Hill article, but certainly on the front page of the NY Times. And others.
"Racism rears it's ugly head amongst Conservative Commentators"
or maybe
"Consevatives proven to be racists, again!!"
Did Ted "anybody for a late swim" Kennedy apologize when he said "Osama" Obama? If he did I don't remember it.
I'd like to see a transcript of the 5 minutes after BW did this. What was he saying that was so important that he couldn't have corrected himself, it would have taken 6 seconds.
"I'm sorry, that was not Senator Obama from Illinois, it was actually Representative Ford of Tennesee."
I was wrong 5 seconds.

Well covered Steve.

On the other hand: What was BW doing that was so unimportant that he had to try to identify people in a picture?

What -- his day job isn't unimportant enough?
