Uh Oh...

A robot that is self aware. Is it too early to form PETR (People for the Ethical Treatment of Robots)?

I'll personally be interested to see if it starts touching itself improperly.

Seriously, I've done this experiment myself with both of my cats. They clearly recognize themselves in the mirror, because they don't get upset (as they generally would) at the sight of another cat.

I'll be more worried if it starts singing "Daisy."

My dog will bark incessantly at his own reflection in the patio doorwall, but not in a mirror. He really thinks that the dog on the other side of the door is his nemesis.

Is this the joke about why the self-aware robot looked in the mirror? To get through to the other side. Not very funny, but this is supposed to be the real test of self-awareness.

I'll be impressed when a robot starts blogging guest posts on Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, complete with the Rott's usual colorful invective.
