As a kid, I remember judging small Texas towns by what businesses they had. A Dairy Queen meant the town could be found on a map. However, a McDonalds meant the town was about to expand big time. That held pretty true, because McDonalds were quickly followed by either factory outlet stores or Walmart or both.
