Molecular Manufacturing Breakthrough
Researchers have been able to achieve electrowetting of nanotubes with mercury. If they can do it with other metals at higher temperatures, it could lead to reliable nanowires.

Wires inside the carbon seem pretty redundant with the high conductivity of the nanotube itself. The 20-atom around pen seems to have legs. 1.4 nm lithograthy should be pretty popular and lucrative if they get it working.
