Jeez

I want a new congressman. He's one of the three brave morons who voted for immediate withdrawal from Iraq. It's pretty bad when your rep is on the same page with Cynthia "Moonbat" McKinney. Particularly considering that he's Jewish, and she's made many anti-Israel and anti-semitic statements.

Wexler was my congressman for years, before redistricting in 2002 gave me Clay Shaw. It's a shame that the way the districts are drawn, in my recollection he's never had a serious opponent.

At the last you know your congressman has principles and stands by them. How many other congressmen have been calling for an immediate withdrawl from Iraq? Surely more than three.

Posted by Brian at November 19, 2005 05:39 PM

Well, he sticks by that one. He was a raving lunatic on every news channel during the Clinton impeachment, and it wasn't at all clear what his principles were, other than that he didn't think that Democrat presidents should be impeached.

embarassed himself (and the district) in the 2000 recount, as well.

Oddly enough, I find myself agreeing with the writer of the article you linked... those that believed exactly as these 3 did but didn't vote thusly out of fear of the political consequences of being on record for voting that way, are cowards. It's one thing to want to say we should immediately pull out of Iraq and another of actually sticking to what you say you beleive as a matter of record.

On the other hand, I think Murtha has lost the right to call himself a Marine. Saying we should immediately pull out of Iraq, while we are WINNING, basically surrendering to the enemy, however nice a face you put on it, while we have the means to resist and win, is at best tactical idiocy and at worst complete cowardice. If he was still an active duty Marine and not retired I can guarantee you he'd be on charges of treason right now.

No. Murtha earned the right to the title the day he graduated boot camp. You don't get to be a Marine simply because your political opinion squares with the candidate. The nice .. and irritating .. thing about Marines is that you may not always agree with their opinions but you will never fail to know what they are.

If he was still an active duty Marine and not retired I can guarantee you he'd be on charges of treason right now.

More BS. Murtha was doing his job as a representative and politician.

Murtha was guest of honor - and older brother of our company commander - at my first Marine Corps dining in. He made an impression on me, thus I may be a tad biased.

Not biased at all. Murtha went through camp and graduated...he's a marine. His opinion on other issues makes him human. Your right on Brian, not biased. Besides, this was nothing more than a political ploy anyway. Remember just before the last election, the Dems brought up a draft proposal just before the election, then voted against it? They were trying to paint Bush as starting the draft. Politics would be the greatest game ever played, if it just had recognizable rules.
