I Have To Confess

...a desire to see Bush name Ann Coulter to the Supreme Court, just to see the apoplexia that this would arouse among Democrats and liberals. The halls of Congress would be bloody with bursting veins and arteries. I wouldn't expect (or even hope) that she'd be confirmed, but the entertainment value, particularly at the hearings, would be immense.

Excerpt: Col. Austin Bay's Post-Indictment Pre-Mortems post is the best round-up of well thought out reactions to the Libby indictment I've seen anywhere. Read it, and don't overlook Uncle Jimbo's comment explaining why we can be certain that Lyin' Joe Wilson's

Yeah Rand, I'd like to see that too. Can you imagine Teddy Kennedy asking her questions, and all her answers to him being "Chappaquiddick" -lol.

Seriously though, nobody in the Senate could claim that she is an unknown quantity. She's definitely an originalist. Plus she worked as a clerk on the supreme court... hmm... she's sounding better and better all the time.

Or Karl Rove. Then it'd be heads explodin', not just veins and arteries.

You read my mind. I just want to see the hearings. The fact is, this country needs this fight just for the civics lesson.

Wicked wicked wicked. :)

LOL! It would be genius.

Good grief, I would pay money to see that. Coulter is eminently qualified, and she would certainly inject some more "life" into the blandly-written SCOTUS opinions.

Ann Coulter has even fewer credentials then Harriett Miers
to sit on any court, let alone the US Supreme Court.

She graduated from undergrad two years later then the rest of her class, went to Law School at Michigan, spent 4 years as an
associate at a minor law firm, 4 years as a hill staffer,
one year as a law clerk, and a brief association doing
public interest law.

A few years are missing from her bio, these must be the
years she spent dating bob guccione.

Now while the extreme GOP admires George Bush, for basically
skipping 20 years of maturation and for his tenure as an
alcoholic and drug user, this has not been good for the country.

If the Radical GOP believes that third rate records, partying,
and outlandish behavior is what makes one fit for high office,
then, certainly, promote Ann Coulter.

However, don't be surprised by the lack of talent later.

Amusing she may be, but, a John Roberts or Henry Blackmun she isn't. It's truly tragic that the GOP, a party that once stood for
ideas and principles has embraced such mediocre
individuals as standard bearers.

Coulter would be the first to admit her lack of qualifications for the supreme court; however, she'd also have to admit she has the one quality that trumps all others... she understands that words have meaning. Those nine have one job: defend and protect the constitution. She understands they are not allowed to make up law, they are only to write opinions that clarify.

Her article on Sandra Day O'Connor hits the nail on the head when it says, "Justice O'Connor evidently decided she preferred her own words ... to the Constitution's word "establishment."

The point being, if some judge doesn't like how the law is written, they are not allowed to short-cut the proper method for addressing the issue. Otherwise, the people become the servants of the government (which may already be the case?)

A Court full of Volokh conspirators would guarantee a reversal of McConnell v. FEC. Make McCain and Feingold squirm!
