Derek Jeter has gotten hate mail for dating white women, accusing him of being a "traitor to his race." But he reportedly has a black father and a white mother. So what race is he being a "traitor" to? Who should he date?

He can date whom ever the hell he wants to. People who say things like this really need to get a LIFE. None of my business or anyone elses who he dates/marries whatever.

Stephen you have excellent taste in beautiful women. I am white, but let me tell you I think Halle Berry may be the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. Every time that Revlon commercial comes on I am transfixed by her absolutely stunning beauty. Don't get me started on her in that catwoman suit. Lousy movie but what straight male went to watch the plot anyway.

Heck Rand, you know people who make a stink about that kind of thing usually barely know what their actual ancestry is. And probably would cover it up, once they had a better idea of the gradiations on their family tree.

The answer to your question, however, is "both". After all, the "races" aren't supposed to mix, so he's a blood traitor just by being alive anyw...wait...which of his parents is a Muggle?

An African-American friend of mine at work today explained to me (in connection with Tiger Woods) that your race is determined solely by your father's race. This was news to me. Has anyone else heard of this (odd) definition?

Whenever it comes up again, I'm going to have to point out to her that this means she can't be confident that she's black: because what if her father's father's father's father's father's father's father was white? I mean, how would she KNOW that he wasn't? Likewise, I certainly wouldn't be willing to declare dogmatically that my father's father's father's father's father's father's father wasn't black, so maybe I'm black ...

Thank goodness he doesn't have a thing for Asian women or he'd be getting double the hate mail.
