In The Crosshairs

Well, there's an incipient hurricane heading right at my house tonight or tomorrow morning, according to all the track predictions. And I'm feeling guilty, being up here in DC, where the weather is gorgeous, while Patricia has to batten down the hatches at home by herself. It gives me a sense of deja vu about last year, when we got hit twice in two weeks in September.

A coworker up here just asked me what it is with Florida and hurricanes lately. My theory is simple: Florida sucks. That's just my theory, though...

There is a reason the American Indians wouldn't even live there back in the day.

That's because it was disease-ridden swamp back then. And many of the Indians were moved there (by the US government) from somewhere else.

Check your facts. There were several tribes of indiginous people in Florida prior to the arrival of the Spanish

There's also a reason many of us Native Floridians (WOW!) have left: goobers from up north and elsewhere movin' in, griping out loud and overall stinkin' up the place.

"Will the last American to leave Miami, please bring the American flag?"

Florida sucks?? suck THIS, rand, as you make your wife do all the man-labor while you cavort with the dunder-heads in the Dirty City...

Posted by Orlando_Native at August 26, 2005 07:42 AM

Well Rand, Orlando's comment suggests that maybe Florida doesn't suck as much as it might, if he's not there anymore.

Posted by McGehee at August 26, 2005 08:33 AM

I didn't move from up north. I moved from out west, where it's nice...

Can't we all just get along??!!
