[Update early Wednesday morning]

Thomas James advances Scrappleface's ball further down the field in comments:

Mother Sheehan's war is just a distraction from the Global Whinge on Bush. The left was arguably justified in going into the Plame/Rove scandal (remember that?) after the catastrophic 11/2 attacks which damaged Ohio's electoral system and brought down the Twin Johns. But since then, they have squandered the unprecedented and heartfelt outpouring of support they once received from George Soros. The left went into this war on the basis of fraudulent estimates of Mother Sheehan's capabilities as a weapon of mass media destruction, an "imminent threat" which has since been proved bogus, and their appalling conduct in this "illegal" ditch-occupation is serving as a recruitment tool for anti-idiotarian insurgents.

That we have the freedom to carry things to the extreme is a blessing. That we have people this willing to carry to this extreme is sad. I'm happy to agree with some of the posters that point out that more people support the military than don't. Perhaps those that don't should be charged a service fee for our military saving their butts and there freedoms.

I really want to say something witty but I can't drag myself to do so. Poor Ms. Sheehan. To first lose a child and then to have that grief exploited by those with a political ax to grind is sad beyond belief.

You'd think that if the MSM had an ounce of human decency they'd let her fall off the screen.

The trouble with Mother Sheehan is that, instead of seeking the balm for her grief through the comfort and compassion of others, she is instead trying to mask it with the head rush of fame. She is not a victim, but a willing participant in this farce.

"Perhaps those that don't should be charged a service fee for our military saving their butts and there freedoms."

That's called taxes.

"That's called taxes."

Interesting argument, except that military people pay taxes, too.

A new tax then, for non war supporters...the butt-saving tax. Then the government...in the same way they always do...can apply the tax to war supporters...as a butt-kicking tax.
