A New Find

(Former?) Democrat and radio ventriloquist Phil Hendrie has a blog. With a surprising name. He's not impressed with Cindy Sheehan.

Phil Hendrie's not impressed with Cindy Sheehan, Casey's mother. Big difference!

Whoops. Fixed...

For decades we've been elevating and bestowing special prvileges on the relatives of those who die in spectacular or highly public ways (air crashes, infamous crimes, terrorist attacks, etc.) These people are painted as victims even though they personally have little or no connection to the death itself. So the inordinate attention paid to one anti-war mother who got lucky* and got her son killed is not surprising.

(* Lucky in the sense of a person willing to play up being a victim actually getting hit by lightning. Think of all the anti-war moms who have their sons come home alive, and how they have to work to get their publicity.)

I read the three posts on Hendrie's blog and he seems to start out strong but about halfway through he loses focus and falls apart. I think he would be much more effective if he kept his posts confined to a few paragraphs. He lacks the discipline to carry out a longer rant.

I think that's an occupational hazard of being a radio talk-show host. Repetition and rambling work much better in that medium than in the written one.
