Come on it's just a means of propulsion in space. Ie, peaceful purposes. No way is it going to be used to incinerate millions of my minions at my whim.

The more advanced (read faster and more compact) a means of propulsion is, the better a weapon it would make (more compact = high energy density fuel, faster = more vehicle kinetic energy). Which is fine and dandy by me. Any technology has multiple uses.
