Profound

I just got this as an email signature from an email correspondent who was sending me an attachment:

"Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: 'Mankind.' Basically, it's made up of two separate words - 'mank' and 'ind'. What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind."

I do believe that was originally published by Steve Martin.

I'm 99% sure that's a "Deep Thought" from Jack Handey.

I'm pretty sure that's just stupid.

asg is right.

That's from the "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey" on SNL. Not one of the better ones, in my opinion.

One of my favorites was (paraphrasing): "If you don't like someone, walk a mile in their shoes. Then you'll be a mile away, and you'll have his shoes."

Interesting split, because "ma" "nkind" could mean something entirely different.
